Request an AppointmentGeneral & Practice Scope Questions
What is family medicine?
Family medicine is a medical specialty that provides continuing, comprehensive health care for individuals and families of all ages, from newborns to seniors. At Moody Medicine, that means one practice can handle infant and pediatric care, routine men’s and women’s health exams, and adult and senior care under one roof.
Do I have to be part of a family to visit your clinic?
No. While we care for entire families, individual patients of any age or background are welcome to establish primary care with us. Visit our New Patients page to learn how to get started.
What ages do you treat?
We see patients across the entire lifespan, including newborns, children, teens, adults, and seniors, so your whole household can be cared for by providers who know your family’s history.
Services & Appointments Questions
What services do you offer?
We provide annual physicals, preventive wellness exams, immunizations, chronic disease management such as diabetes and high blood pressure, in-office procedures such as skin tag, wart, or cyst removal, ear washes, and EKGs, women’s health exams, hormone therapy, and minor acute care. We also offer cosmetic and wellness services including Morpheus8 skin tightening, Diolaze laser hair removal, microneedling, Botox and Juvéderm, and medically supervised weight loss.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can call our office at (432) 332-5200 and select Option 2 to speak with our front desk staff. You can also use the Request an Appointment button on any page of our website and fill out the form with a good call-back number, and we will call you to schedule. Once you are an established patient, you can also request appointments through our Patient Portal.
What do I need to do if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel. You can cancel by calling us at (432) 332-5200 or by using one of the digital reminders we send by text or email. To reschedule, please call our office at (432) 332-5200 and speak with our receptionist. We understand that emergencies happen and will take those circumstances into consideration.
What is your no-show policy?
Any patient who fails to show, or who cancels or reschedules without contacting our office at least 24 hours in advance, is considered a no-show and is charged a $25.00 fee. This fee is billed to the patient, not the insurance company. Medicaid patients are not charged the $25.00 fee but are subject to a “3 No-Show Rule,” which means three no-shows may result in Moody Medicine no longer serving as your provider.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Please bring a photo ID, your current health insurance card, a list of your current medications, and any relevant past medical records. We ask that you call your insurance company beforehand to confirm we are listed as an in-network provider, since skipping this step can cause verification issues and may require your appointment to be rescheduled. New patients must complete our New Patient Packet, so please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. You can review accepted plans on our Insurance page.
Walk-In Policies and Procedures
What is your walk-in policy?
Moody Medicine offers walk-in visits for established patients who are sick and need to be seen for an acute illness. Walk-in visits are not intended for routine or non-urgent services such as physicals, paperwork, prior authorizations, medication-related administrative requests, or other services that require a scheduled appointment. For those needs, please call our office to schedule.
What should I expect as a walk-in patient?
Because we also care for patients with scheduled appointments, those patients may be seen before walk-in patients. We always do our best to see you as quickly as possible, but please be prepared for a possible wait.
What are the walk-in hours?
Morning walk-ins are accepted daily from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m., and afternoon walk-ins are accepted Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:45 to 2:15 p.m., or until we reach capacity, whichever comes first. Once capacity is reached, our front desk team will check for a same-day appointment if one is available or help schedule you for another day.
Prior Authorizations, Referrals, Prescriptions, and Labs
What if I need a prior authorization?
Some medications, procedures, or services require approval from your insurance company before they are covered. If you have been told a prior authorization is needed, call our office and select Option 5 to reach our Referral/Pre-Authorization Coordinator. We will provide the information your insurance company requests as promptly as possible, but processing times vary by plan, and the final approval or denial is made by your insurance company, not Moody Medicine.
What if I need a referral to a specialist?
In most cases, you will need to be evaluated by one of our providers first so they can determine the appropriate specialty and supply the medical information needed for your referral. Once your provider places the referral, our Referral/Pre-Authorization Coordinator will coordinate next steps with the specialist and your insurance company and will notify you once it has been sent. A referral does not guarantee insurance coverage, so we encourage you to confirm coverage and network participation with your plan.
What if I need a prescription refill?
You can request refills by calling our office and selecting Option 4 or through the Patient Portal. Please allow up to 72 hours for requests to be reviewed and processed, and request refills before you run out. All refills are subject to provider approval, and some medications require more frequent follow-up visits for safe monitoring. If you have not been seen by one of our providers in the past year, an office visit is required before additional refills can be authorized.
How do I get the results of my lab work?
Moody Medicine sends lab work to a partnered third-party laboratory, and results can take up to 7 business days depending on the test. Once results are received, a provider reviews them and adds notes on diagnosis and next steps, and one of our nurses will call you with your results and any actions the provider recommends. To check on the status of your results, call (432) 332-5200 and select Option 6 to reach a nurse. If you need to leave a message, please include your name, birth date, and a good call-back number.
Billing and Payment Questions
What forms of payment do you accept?
Moody Medicine accepts cash, valid checks, major credit and debit cards, CareCredit, and Cherry. Learn more about financing options on our Payment Plans page.
What will I be required to pay at my visit?
If you are using insurance, any applicable copay and other amounts known to be your responsibility are due at the time of service, and you may receive an additional bill after your insurance company processes the claim. If you are a self-pay patient, payment for your office visit is due at the time of service, and additional services such as injections, laboratory testing, or procedures may result in additional charges. Our team is happy to help you understand anticipated charges before your visit.
Why do I have a balance?
Having health insurance does not always mean your insurance company will pay the full cost of your care. After your claim is processed, your plan may assign part of the cost to you as a deductible, copay, coinsurance, or non-covered service, and this amount can vary from visit to visit. Balances may also come from other account charges, such as a no-show fee. When a balance is due, Moody Medicine may send billing notifications by text message or email.
Why did my insurance say a service was covered, but I still received a bill?
When an insurance company says a service is “covered,” it generally means the service is eligible for benefits under your plan, not that it will be paid in full. You may still owe a portion through your deductible, copay, coinsurance, or other cost-sharing. Your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) shows how your plan applied your benefits, and our team is happy to help explain the charges from Moody Medicine and the information we receive from your insurer.
Can you tell me exactly what my visit will cost before I am seen?
For self-pay patients, we can share our standard office visit charges, although the final cost depends on the services you receive, such as lab testing, injections, medications, or procedures. For insured patients, it is often not possible to determine your exact out-of-pocket cost before the claim is processed because it depends on your deductible, copay, coinsurance, covered services, and benefit status. Your insurance company is the best source for questions about your specific coverage.
How can I pay my balance?
You can pay in person at our Odessa clinic, through our secure Patient Portal, by calling our office and selecting Option 3, or by mail to our office address. If you have questions about your balance, please contact our office and our team will help explain the charges.
